Chair's Welcome
The Department of Management, Marketing, & Logistics is home to two of the largest undergraduate majors at Georgia College & State University. We are excited that you are considering our programs!
A degree in Marketing prepares students for productive career opportunities ranging from advertising and sales promotion to retail, product, brand, or social media management. The marketing major will challenge students to acquire, build, and utilize quantitative, qualitative, critical thinking, problem solving, and creative skills. We also offer a minor in marketing for non-business majors.
A degree in Management prepares students to effectively manage resources, processes, and people. Management is the process of planning, organizing, developing, and controlling resources to maximize the effectiveness of an organization, but it is also the art of getting things done correctly. Management is a universal process that requires technical and interpersonal skills that will apply to small businesses, large organizations, and more importantly to people. The management minor is available to both business and non-business majors.
For all business majors, we offer numerous concentrations and minors. The sales concentration develops interpersonal communication skills used not only in professional selling but also in everyday business situations. Our logistics and supply chain concentration or minor equips students for careers in the dynamic global supply chain industry. The human resources management concentration covers important topics such as recruitment and hiring, training and staff development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and labor law. Finally, the entrepreneurship concentration or minor prepares students to think like entrepreneurs by teaching skills such as opportunity recognition, risk management, business planning, marketing, and leadership.
Our department also offers the online Master of Logistics and Supply Chain Management (MLSCM). This advanced degree uniquely positions graduates for career advancement and leadership opportunities in the dynamic logistics and supply chain industry. We even offer a “Double Bobcat” pathway wherein students can obtain both their bachelor’s and master’s degrees in just five years!
